The founder of our college, the late Mr. V. Velupillai, with the ideal and lofty thought that the future of the children and wealth of the people of Uvarmalai should be noble, cleared the land that was covered in dense forest with the generosity of the people of Uvarmalai, and with his tireless efforts and hard work, built a 70′ × 20′ building with a roof made of coconut thatch and named it Uvarmalai Tamil Vidyathealayam as a temple for imparting knowledge. On Monday, the 10th of May, 1978, with 97 students and 04 teachers, Mr. A. Thangavel as the first principal, it was formally inaugurated by the Honorable Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Mr. I. Sampanthan, when he was a Member of Parliament. Mr. V. Velupillai submitted a proposal to the government. Delivered.

It is recalled in many of our college's journals that the establishment of this college was due to the hard work of the college founder, the people of Uvarmalai, the Rural Development Association, the Principal A. Thangavel, the Assistant Governor Sri. V. Sampasiva Iyer, and many other well-wishers.
